The New Starbucks Ads

Have you seen the new Starbucks 30-second spots? There are three of them by agency Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Oregon. They received rave reviews by AdAge's Garfield and I must say I am inclined to agree. (http://adage.com/garfield/post?article_id=122340) We just completed our final proposals for my Advertising Competition class and I can only hope that our suggestions would render something similar. Two thumbs up for an advertising-free company who managed to extend the feel of their brand rather successfully into a new media (for them) marketing campaign!

I also thought those of you who frequent the Hill might get a kick out of the content of this particular ad... ;-) But seriously, it's very well done. Way to show the product benefit guys!

Take Flight 2

I tried to embed this video I uploaded to YouTube in my website and it hasn't worked yet. So, the video is here instead. I'm currently using Nvu (open source software for mac's) to create my website and it doesn't like the code.

This video is the second of the "Take Flight!" series and my favorite of all the videos I've created so far. It is, however, a little old and I can see several things I have since improved on (as far as editing and shooting go). I have also upgraded to a new camera. Still... Just something about this one makes me like it. It also happens to be one of the smallest videos in terms of size, so it lent itself well to being the first to get uploaded.

Success!

Wiki vs. Website

Wow. So creating a wiki is ten times easier than creating a website. There is not as much control over design, but when you just need to put together something simple fast, a wiki is the way to go. The colorful one is the wiki that I created in a few hours of wandering around the internet. The white one with the words "Error..." is the website I've been working on for over a month. Definitely something to keep in mind...

This Day Has Already Happened

"The frog at the bottom of the well knows not the vastness of the ocean..." The air is still here, the mind is not. A person must be open and unafraid to step into the unknown. These last three days have taught me this...

The sun shines on the leaves outside my window. The clouds above are dark and the breeze is gentle. Standing still. Eyes closed. I can feel the light.

I am breathing a part of the sky.

Everyone else is running. Sirens. That's where I will live tomorrow.
